Great weekend of athletics at GloHealth championships

Varying weather conditions didn’t deter hundreds of athletes from competing at their best at the GloHealth National Juvenile Relay & B Championships and GloHealth National Juvenile Track & Field Championships Day 1 last weekend (July 9/10).

GloHealth National Juvenile Relay & B Championships (July 9) brought great excitement with some leading juvenile athletes competing in the relays such as Niall Harvey (St Laurence O’Toole), Tony Odubote (Ennis Track), Cillin Greene (Galway City Harriers) and Mollie O’Reilly (DSD). Weather conditions fluctuated throughout the day from heavy rain and bright sunshine. For results of the day click HERE.

Day 1 of GloHealth National Juvenile Track & Field Championships Day 1 (July 10) was continuously overcast but that didn’t dampen the spirits with many athletes winning national medals and titles for the first time as Ciara Mageean (UCD), who has travelled this path, was winning European 1500m bronze in Amsterdam.

Some highlight performers included Louis O’Loughlin (Donore Harriers) in the U16 boys 800m, Emma Moore (Galway City Harriers) in the U13 girls 600m, Ailbhe Doherty (Ennis Track) in the U14 girls 800m, Aoibhin O’Connor (Bandon) in the U17 girls long jump, Sean Kavanagh (Midleton) in the U13 boys high jump and Megan Lenihan (North Cork) in the U14 girls javelin.
