The top Irish hammer throwers assembled in Dunboyne over the weekend for a coaching masterclass with Paddy McGrath. Despite the cold weather and threatening rain, a huge amount of work was done over the two days by the group under the former Olympian’s guidance. The group focused on throwing technique and all strength related aspects to hammer throwing, plus McGrath gave some guidance on university scholarship opportunities in the USA.

Many of Ireland’s up and coming hammer throwers were there like Brendan O’Donnell, Killian Barry and European Junior medallist Michaela Walsh.

Dunboyne Athletics Club was a super location and is developing into one of the county’s best throws venues. Many thanks to all the Dunboyne officials that assisted over the weekend, especially Declan Nyhan.
