Derval O'Rourke finalised her competitive preparations for Gothenburg in Nuremburg on Sunday running 12.87 (+0.5) and 12.89 (-0.2) for the 100 metres hurdles. This level of performance should ensure Derval fighting for a high position in the championships. In London on Friday James Nolan was 5th in the 1500 metres in 3.40.43 while Alistair Cragg was 7th in 3.41.64 in performances somewhat below expectation. Mary Cullen ran a personal best in the 3000 metres in 9.00.61. At the BMC meeting in Cardiff on Saturday Gareth Turnbull finished 2nd in the 1500 metres in a season's best of 3.46.88 In Loughborough last Wednesday Michelle Carey improved again on her 400 metres hurdles best in a winning time of 56.31. At the same meeting Ian Mcdonald improved on his 110 metres hurdles best with a time of 14.31
