A team of six Irish athletes are set to compete at the European Throwing Cup in Leiria, Portugal this weekend (March 11th & 12th).
The team includes Irish shot put record holder Eric Favors who will be a leading contender after his standout indoor season which included a 20.16NR.
World U20 finalist Nicola Tuthill (Hammer) will challenge in the U23 grade as she builds towards the European U23 Championships later in the year.
Athletics Ireland views the European Throwing Cup as a key competition which contributes to the progression of Irish Throwers. Athletics Ireland intends to support athlete’s participation at the European Throwing Cup to reflect our aim of improving our standing in the European Team Championships, and to assist in developing throwers who are progressing towards European U20 & U23 Championships, World Championships or Olympic Games qualification.
