After some great Cross Country performances in Gent last weekend, with Fionnuala Britton taking an impressive victory in the senior women’s race and Seamus Power coming back to good form, Athletics Ireland will continue preparation this weekend for the forth coming European Cross Country in December, in Tilburg. A strong mix of junior, U23 and senior athletes will travel to Tilburg, the Netherlands to compete in the Tilburg Cross Country International on Sunday. A full programme of races; Junior, U23 and Senior will take place, giving athletes a prime opportunity to prepare for the European Cross Country next month. The team will be led by Cross Country Team Manager Ann Keenan Buckley and Team Coach Teresa McDaid. Senior Men Gary Murray, Mark Kenneally, David Kelly and Gary Thornton will all be hoping to impress in advance of national Inter-County Championships in Dungarvan in two weeks time. In the men’s U23 race Mark Kirwan, Mick Clohisey, Mark Hanrahan and Dan Mulhare will be vying for top finishing places. On the women’s side Orla O’Mahony and Orla Drumm will be both looking for a good marker in the senior and U23 women’s events. In the junior events Stephen Scullion and young Craig Murphy of Togher will be hoping to impress and on the women’s side Sara Louise Treacy and Lorna Comyn will be looking for good performances.
