Another Record IMC Night of Distance Running!!! The Irish Milers Club will host another top class meeting in Irishtown this Saturday at 6pm, hot on the heels of the last successful meeting two weeks ago when 34 athletes ran personal bests. The final Irishtown race of the year has another record entry of 75 athletes as more and more athletes get involved with the Irish Milers Club in what has been the most successful year to date for the club. Irish 3000m and 5000m record holder Mark Carroll will be a star attraction with his first track race in Irishtown stadium over 3000m. He will face stiff opposition from his prodigy Mark Christie who is coming off a series of good performances including a second place finish in the Europa Cup. Joe Mc Allister and Brian Maher will also feature as will up and coming athletes Mick Clohissey and John Coghlan. The race is been paced by 3.45 and 4.02 athlete Harry Norton from the UK for Carroll and Christie who are looking for a sub 8 minutes time. The rest of the field will be brought around by Alan O’Brien. The Men’s 1500m A race sees the best IMC field at this distance ever which will hopefully see the field go under the 3.50 barrier with athletes such as Richie Corcoran, Pat Mc Cartan, Mark Hanrahan, Aidan Bailey, Paul Fleming and Gary O’Hanlon all lining out. Will Seidel, a USA 1.53 athlete will take out the pace. The Men’s 1500m B and C races will also feature a number of athletes trying to run personal bests. The women’s 1500m will also have a top class line up with previous IMC winners Aoife Byrne and Susan Byrne facing each other along with DCU student Ciara Durkan and Donore athlete Adrienne Jordan. The action kicks off at 6.00pm. Registration will open at 4.45pm with two desks open, one for 2008 members and one for new members-membership for the IMC costs EUR 20 with all entry to races free of charge. A large crowd is expected so get there early!!
