Generously sponsored by Michael And Susan McGovern The IMC is delighted to announce one of the strongest fields ever assembled for one our meetings this Saturday in Irishtown in the men’s 800m A race. Former national champion James Nolan leads the charge in the Michael and Susan Mc Govern sponsored races. David Mc Carthy who set a personal best of 1.47.71 last weekend in Belgium will be looking to improve on his time before the Nationals next weekend. Challenging both of these athletes will be Scotland’s Kevin Kane who has a personal best of 1.49.4. Also in the field are top U-23 and Junior athletes Joe Warne, Conor Healy and Nially Tuohy, the in form Colm Rooney, former national medallist Eoin Cummins, Eoin Flynn and 1500m specialist Emmet Dunleavy. 400m National U-23 Champion Simon Taggart will take the athletes to 600m in 1.18. Meanwhile the 800m B race is also very strong with a host of 1500m athletes honing their speed before next week’s nationals. Chief among them are National Indoor Bronze medallist Pat Mc Carton, Martin Conroy, Gavin O’Sullivan and Kevin Moriarty. The 1500m also sees a stellar line up with the never ageing Paul Fleming and Eugene O’Neill taking on younger compatriots Mark Kirwan, Thomas Fitzpatrick, Paul Pollock and Damien Bateman. Hazel Murphy and Susan Byrne will be seeking personal bests in the women’s 800m which currently only has two entrants. Entries for this race and the men’s 800m C race will remain open until Friday at noon. All are welcome to attend our final event of the season. The race is been kindly sponsored Michael and Susan Mc Govern who recently married and asked wedding guests to contribute to a fund in order to sponsor an athletics meeting.
