Derval O’Rourke continued her fantastic form in winning the 60H at the AAA’s in Sheffield this weekend beating arch rival Sarah Claxton the 2005 and 2004 winner. Derval having opened her season equaling her national record of 8:02 today went below the 8:00 second mark. Ciara Sheehy made a made a dramatic return to form winning the 200m in a world class time of 23.20 a mark well inside the World Championship B standard for outdoors. Ciara also ran 23:34 and 23:40 in the heats making her the fastest qualifier and showing class and consistency. David McCarthy also showed that he is returning to form after his injury ridden year in 2005, coming second in the 400m in 46.81 well inside the World Indoor Championship qualifying time. Emily Maher won the 60m in 7.40, making the Irish medal tally 5; 3 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze. Stephen Flemming recorded a personal best of 7:35 in the long jump to win bronze. Roseanne Galligan broke the Irish Indoor Junior 1500m record in the 1500m heats on Saturday with a time of 4:26.52 and her training partner Orla Drumm made the final in the same event recording her third personal best of the season with the time of 4:23.10. Elsewhere Roisin McGettigan continued her preparations for the World Indoor Championships winning the mile in Boston 4.39.27 and Peter Coghlan came third in 60H 7.91 in Iowa.
