Irish teams competed in the Celtic Cross Country on Sunday,18th of January. The annual fixture was hosted by Ireland this year and featured teams from Scotland, Wales, Ulster and Athletics Ireland. The event was run in conjunction with the Leinster Junior and Senior Cross Country Championships in CowPark, Dunboyne.
Caoimhe Harrington u17 girls (Athletics Ireland) was a clear winner in the combined u17/u20 race. There was other stong performances from Christy Conlon (Ulster) u17 boys, Peter Lynch (Athletics Ireland) u20 boys and Avril Deegan (Ballyroan Abbeyleix) followed by Clodagh O Reilly (Ulster). In the U23 category the standout performances were David Harper and Shona Heaslip.
