Three Irish athletes – Séamus Clarke, John Glennon, and Matthew Newell – represented Ireland in the Men’s U20 10km race at the World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships in Brasília, Brazil.
Coming into the event, Clarke had been in standout form, having broken Irish U20 records over both 5000m and 10km earlier in 2026. Glennon also arrived in strong condition after achieving qualification with a personal best performance in Austria, while Newell brought valuable international experience despite being the youngest of the trio.
In the race, Matthew Newell produced the top Irish performance, finishing 21st with a new personal best of 44:08. Séamus Clarke placed 24th in 44:54, followed closely by John Glennon in 25th with a time of 45:09.
