In August the VIP Hub hosted the first Laois Inclusion Games.

Over the weekend, 340 athletes competed in over 15 sports. The Hub worked with 12 national sports bodies to create a sports-specific event for community para-athletes.

On Sunday the 16th at Portlaoise College track, several athletics clubs came together to support over 40 athletes.

The volunteers from Emo/Rath, St Abbans, Oakvale, Ballyfin, Portlaoise AC and supported by Laois Athletics worked together to create a track and field event where athletes with a visual impairment or physical disabilities could compete across their chosen discipline.

The event was a huge success with throwers getting PB’s and a new national record to our sprinters who showcased their skills on the track.

There was a competition slot and invites extended to the local Special Olympics team Laochra Laois to compete on the day.
