Lawler speeds to third on Irish 100m all-time list

Marcus Lawler (SLOT) sped to third on the Irish 100m all-time list with his 10.30 (0.7) clocking in Regensburg, Germany.

Lawler’s time was also an Irish U23 record and he followed that up with a time of 20.79 (0.0) in the 200m.

Mark English (UCD) was just outside the world standard (1:45.90) as he came through the field in 1:46.02 for fourth over 800m in Hengelo.

Thomas Barr (Ferrybank) finished third in Geneva over the 400m hurdles 49.39 – just outside the world standard of 49.35. Brian Gregan (Clonliffe Harriers) got his second win in a week with a new season’s best of 45.75 in Geneva.

Siofra Cleirigh Buttner (DSD) missed out on a place in the final of the 800m for Villanova at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon with 2:07.14 for fifth in her semi-final. Dempsey McGuigan (Finn Valley) finished tenth in the hammer for Ole Mississippi with a best of 69.14m.

Ciara Mageaan followed up on her 1500m world qualifying standard of 4:04.49 in Rome last Thursday by winning the Northern Ireland 800m title at the Mary Peters track in Belfast in 2:07.49.
