Lawler to focus on the 200m

Marcus Lawler has decided to withdraw from the 100m and focus solely on the 200m at the European Athletics U23 Championships. The compact schedule would have seen the St Laurence O’Toole athlete having to potentially run a 200m heat before the 100m final on Friday (July 10th). The 200m is Lawler's speciality and he is currently ranked 7th on the European list with his 20.74 clocking in Geneva on June 7th.

"It's just too much," said Lawler after doing some block starts on the top bend in the Kadriorg Stadium. The Carlow man will still be a part of the men's 4 by 100m relay team with their heats and final on the final day of competition on Sunday. You can check the team schedule here.
