Leevale set for state of the art facility
Leevale AC’s plan to develop an athletics high performance centre becomes a reality. With the purchase of the former Top Car garage on Farranlea road complete and planning permission secured, work on developing the high performance centre will commence immediately. The project will cost the club an estimated €1.7 million, most of these funds are available from the well managed building fund which was set up by club members in the 90’s, the balance will be supported by capital grants.
The club plans to have the 1,400m2 high performance centre completed in time for 2016 winter training.
The new clubhouse is ideally located between the UCC & CIT tracks which are both extensively used by Leevale for training . Once completed the facility will consist of a large athletics sports hall equipped with state of the art analysis equipment with a dedicated set up for:
* Hurdles
* Sprints
* High Jump
* Long Jump
* Pole Vault
* Shot Putt
* Discus
* Javelin
* Circuit Training
* Athlete-centred gym
Additionally there will be a state of the art conference/meeting room, aptly with panoramic views of the Lee Valley.
Donal Murnane, club chairman states ‘the High Performance Training Centre is a very important development for Leevale’s athletes & coaches as it will provide them with world-class training facilities to help them reach their full potential.'
