Let The Games Begin (Morton Games Launched)

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring today launched the Morton Games International Track and Field with Irish international athlete Mark English. The Morton Games is Dublin’s only international Track and Field Meet and takes place on Friday July 11th in the Morton Stadium.

Speaking at the launch Minister Michael Ring T.D. said “I am delighted to be hear to launch the Morton Games. This great event continues to grow and has become one of the premier track and field events in the country. The range of athletes competing this year shows that the Morton Games is a premier event. I want to wish everyone involved every success”.

International Athletes

The Meet will see international athletes from around the globe competing in the Morton Stadium Santry with an excess of 80 international athletes representing over 20 countries as diverse as Brazil, United States, Australia, New Zealand, Bahrain, South Africa and from all over Europe. Several Olympians are confirmed participants including Olympic medallist Francis Obikwelu, Manteo Mitchell, Jarrin Solomon and John Stevenson. Up to ten Olympians will be competing at the Meet.

Ireland's Elite

Confirmed top Irish participants include Mark English, Paul Robinson, Brian Gregan, Kelly Proper, Steven Colvert, Thomas Barr and Laura Crowe.

The Morton Games will provide a night of non stop action with the international programme opening at 7 p.m. with the feature Morton Mile at 9 p.m.
