As part of Athletics Ireland coach education pathway, long term athlete development is a key stage in attracting new members, supporting existing ones and retaining our club athletes. This workshop sits as a CPD opportunity for those coaches interested in endurance running.
In 2025 52 coaches took part in these workshops from over 30 clubs. This workshop is designed to help club coaches support runners of all levels — with a particular focus on midlife women.
Donal Fallon, Mount Hillary A.C said of the workshop ‘It was exactly what I needed for developing a coaching program and philosophy in our club’.
These coaching workshops will provide support to coaches who are working with endurance runners training for 5K- Marathon. The workshop will provide coaches with theory and practical support which can be applied at club coaching sessions.
This workshop does focus on female runners, but the sessions plans and principles of training mixed and varied ability groups are applicable to all runners.
Coaches need tools and understanding to help everyone in their group stay active healthy and progressing
The workshop is delivered over two in-person days in LIMERICK.
