Luke McCann (UCD AC) has broken the Irish 1000m record with a scintillating 2:17.40 second place finish in Louisville this evening (Feb12th).

The time breaks the Irish indoor 1000m record which had stood since 1985 (Marcus O'Sullivan 2:20.2). It also breaks David Matthew's overall record of 2:17.58.

The performance follows on from his brilliant performance at the Indoor Grand Prix meeting in New York on Feb 6th which saw him cross in third place in 3:53.87 PB (7th Irish all-time list).
