Morton Stadium set for more action

Morton Stadium is set for another busy weekend with the Irish Life Health National Combined Events and day two of the U20 Athletics Championships (September 12th/13th).

The combined events take place over the course of the two days and Rolus Olusa (Clonliffe Harriers) will be aiming to win the senior men’s decathlon title. Meanwhile, Nenagh Olympic pair Joseph McEvoy and Darragh Miniter will be among the contenders in the U20 men.  

In the women’s heptathlon Karen Dunne (Bohermeen) and Anna McCauley (City of Lisburn) will be aiming for gold in respective senior and U20 competitions.

Some of the medallists from the masters last weekend are back in action in the pentathlon with Avril Dillon (DSD) F40 pentathlon and Trevor McGlynn (Omagh Harriers) M40 looking to bag more gold.

Similarly, in the quadrathlon Geraldine Finegan (North East Runners Dundalk) F50 and Shane Sheridan (DSD) M60 will look to get on top of the podium once more.

On Sunday, day two of the U20 championships will also be completed with Aimee Hayde (Newport), Louis O’Loughlin (Donore Harriers), Nelvin Appiah (Longford) and Louise King (St Colman’s South Mayo) among those competing for glory in respective 800m and 100m/110m hurdles races with much of the action having taken place last week.
