Similar to the inaugural session in Limerick, the Munster Regional Squad in CIT, Cork proved to be a great success. Over 100 athletes from all the counties in Munster attended the session. Athletes receiving feedback from Head Coach John Sheehan during the Munster Regional Squad session in CIT Coaching was given to athletes in Shot Putt, Discus, Javelin, Hurdles, Sprints, High Jump, Long Jump, Middle Distance and Hammer. Shot Putt Training Once again the Coaches delivering the sessions were very impressed by the enthusiasm and commitment shown by all the athletes in attendance but also personal coaches and parents who were observing different sessions. Sprint Group Acceleration Drills Similar to UL the athletes had an opportunity to meet other people who take part in the same events as themselves in a less competitive environment, and also to ask questions of the Coaches present. Middle Distance Group RecuperatingMedicine Ball Conditioning An additional aspect of this Squad session was the element of sport conditioning. Each athlete was given a sheet of strengthening exercises designed to develop both Hip Mobility and Core Stability, two very important variables in young athletes. Group Feedback is an integral part of Squad Sessions The Munster Regional Squad will meet again on November 17th in Castleisland for the Javelin, Shot, Discus, Hammer, Walks and Middle Distance and again on November 24th in Nenagh for the Sprints, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot and Hurdles.
