NATIONAL 50K TITLES DECIDED

Tudor Muldovan of Clonliffe Harriers has secured the National 50k title in Donadea this afternoon. Muldovan was the only athlete to break 3 hours, crossing the finish line in a brilliant 2:59:04 in what were ideal running conditions around the ten-lap route.

Donore Harriers filled the remaining podium places with Ian Fitzgerald finishing second in 3:11:18, followed by clubmate Wayne Waldron in third in 3:15:18.

Deirdre Martin of Carrick on Shannon went one better than last years silver medal to claim gold in the women’s race in a time of 3:35:11. The Carrick athlete finished just under 10 minutes ahead of local athlete Patricia McLoughlin of Le Cheile in 3:43:16.
