It's back to Tullamore again this weekend 8/9 July for the national juvenile track and field championships ( 14-19 ) commencing both days at 9.30am. Entry to these championships is by way of qualification through the five regions of Munster, Leinster, Ulster, Connacht and Dublin. In all some 1500 athletes will participate in 97 track and 89 field events in a mammoth action-packed programme over the two days. With selection for the Celtic International, due to be held in Waterford on August 12th, to be decided from these championships the occasion will have added incentive for athletes to win their events. Additionally some of the top athletes will be endeavouring to achieve the criteria to gain selection to the prestigious AAI Youth Achievers panel. A few no doubt will even be endeavouring to lay down an early marker for next years European Youth Olympic Festival. Rest assured that as always these championships will provide plenty of entertainment mixed with moments of high drama, elation and despair. We wish all the athletes best of luck for the weekend and dare we say it good weather for the weekend!
