Cian McPhillips (UCD AC) broke the Irish U23 indoor 1000m record on Friday night at the TUS Baseline Meeting in Athlone.
McPhillips clocked a time of 2.20.23 to take down the previous record that had been held by Mark Carroll for just short of thirty years.
The Longford man now moves to fourth on the Irish Indoor All-Time list for the event.
