Athletics Ireland is pleased to announce the launch of its new Coaching Database and License System, designed to enhance the support, recognition, and governance of coaching across the organisation. This streamlined platform will ensure that coaching credentials are clearly recorded and maintained to the highest standards. Under the new system, all coaches who are registered members of Athletics Ireland, hold a Level 2 or Level 3 coaching qualification, and have completed Garda Vetting will be officially recognised as Licensed Coaches.
The Coaching License will be further rolled out to all Level 1 coaches in the coming months. Club officials can now download a report of all ACTIVE members of their club who are qualified COACHES. If these coaches are Garda Vetted, they are considered to be a Licenced AAI Coach. If you do not see someone on this report and you think this is a mistake, please first check if they are an ACTIVE member of your club. Please see the below guide for club secretaries to access the coaching report.

Speaking on the launch Coach Education Manager Conor Wilson said “The launch of the new Coaching Database and License System marks a significant milestone in how we support and recognise our coaching community. This platform provides a clear, transparent pathway for coaches to manage their qualifications and stay aligned with best practice standards. It not only simplifies administration but also reinforces our commitment to quality, safeguarding, and continuous professional development. We’re proud to introduce a system that puts coaches at the centre and helps elevate coaching standards across Athletics Ireland.”
