Double European U20 100m/200m Champion, Rhasidat Adeleke (Tallaght AC), has broken the Irish 60m indoor record with a 7.17PB in the heats of the NCAA Indoor Championships in Alabama in the early hours of this morning.
The Tallaght AC star, who was representing Texas University, improves on her previous best of 7.21 and takes over from Molly Scott on top of the Irish all-time list. Scott had reclaimed the 60 meter record last weekend with a stunning 7.19 to take the national indoor title.
Before this year, the NR stood at 7.27. That time has been equalled or bettered EIGHT times in the past six weeks:

Both athletes will have another opportunity to go even faster in the coming days, with Adeleke set to become the first Irish athlete to compete in an NCAA Division 1 indoor sprint final, while Scott heads on international duty with Ireland at the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade in 5 days time.
