Endurance Camp Day 7 Blog

Today marked the seventh day of the camp and most importantly the bereavement of oh-so-many fragile Easter Eggs and the occasional bunny. The sky was a dull, but a more comforting, shade of fifty grey's. Some Leaving Cert athletes had a challenging Math question to solve during their study hours.

Long Run

We commenced our "Church of Sunday" long run at the precise time of thirty-four minutes past the ninth hour. As ever, we were treated to the idyllic trails of (something) de Falesia at the mouth of the scenic Algarve and a we witnessed a weathered looking Haile Gebrselaisse look a like. There was no Hope for herself and the fast moving girls, Isabel and Rhona, who became lost at the misguidance of John T's directions; alas they returned eventually.

The Search for WiFi Continues...

Some athletes made their way to the local cafe, Tesouros "we change our WiFi code daily", for some replenishment, caffeine and good all around banter. Ronan opted for the indoor seating where Jumping The Gun base their new Sky Sports sponsored correspondence outlet. Given the day that was in it, Easter Sunday, we rapidly proceeded to the local shop preceding the 2pm curfew.

In between the unexpected showers, time was spent on tournaments of pool and on keepy-upy's. A thrilling showdown was witnessed between young Micheal of the Power's and the Star of the Sea, Andrew C, until Micheal fell at the final metaphorical hurdle by potting his ball in the uncalled pocket. Newry AC's Oisín even found sufficient time to establish a social photographic medium in that of Instagram. (All rights reserved)

Whine and Dine

6 p.m. arrived and the athletes were marched to the nearby pool by team captains Jack and Clodagh for a tremendous, for some, session of the frightening sound of foam being rolled and glutes being agonized. The calm waters of the pool were undisturbed from our athletes this time but we shall not predict what the coming days will bring.

Coach M, unaccompanied by his familiar partner in crime, ventured out for the FIFTH night of eating out. Thankfully he is training whilst here. One Luke of the Corkonians ended up in a hairless situation following a somewhat odd dinner. All of the athletes on the camp would like to extend our sympathy for the loss of our friend and entertainer, Mervyn whom departed for the Emerald Isle this morning. He shall be missed by both athletes and pizzeria owners alike.
