Paul Hession Smashes Irish 60m Record


Gary Ryan's record is blown away Paul Hession (Athenry) has been in tremendous form for the past couple of weeks. In Bratislava on Sunday he clocked 6.74, just one hundredth of a second off Gary Ryan’s Irish record. Tonight in Vienna he won his heat of the 60m in a time of 6.70, and then took his place on the start line in top class company for the final. Running the best race of his life he crossed the line in third place, smashing Gary Ryan’s Irish record with a brilliant 6.66 clocking. Well done Paul. 60m Final 1. Gardener Jason GBR 6,62 2. Ciara clocked 7.59 in her heat and followed with 7.58 in the A final, while Ailis clocked 7.59 in her heat and then ran 7.65 in the B final. Fionnuala Britton was fifth in 19.29, while Linda Byrne was 13th in 20:22 and Ellen Disken was 22nd in 21:30 for the 5.5Km distance. Women Cardiff based Sara Barry (DSD and Cardiff) was third in the triple jump at the UK Indoor City Challenge last Sunday with a best effort of 12.26m.
