2 July 2026

Ireland’s finest school athletes will head to Belfast on Saturday, 18 July 2026, aiming to continue the country’s proud tradition at the Schools International Athletic Board (SIAB) Track & Field International.

The annual competition, which brings together the best school athletes from Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales, has long been regarded as one of the highlights of the youth athletics calendar. With many of the competitors going on to represent their countries at European and World level, the SIAB International offers a glimpse of the sport’s future stars.

Ireland travels with a balanced and highly competitive squad, selected following an outstanding schools athletics season that produced numerous championship records and exceptional performances across the country and most recently at the Tailteann Games in SETU Carlow.

While individual medals will be the immediate target, the overall team competition remains fiercely contested every year, with every point proving vital. Ireland’s blend of championship experience and exciting new talent gives the team genuine optimism heading into the international.

With home support expected in Belfast and many athletes making their international debut. For many members of the Irish squad, the SIAB International represents the first step on what they hope will become successful international careers.

Competition begins at the Mary Peters Track on Saturday, 18 July, with Ireland looking to produce another strong performance against the best school athletes from across Britain and Ireland.
