The GloHealth Tailteann Games will act as the curtain raiser to the GloHealth National Senior Track and Field Championships in Morton Stadium tomorrow (June 25).

Leinster, Munster, Connacht and Ulster will battle it out in the U17 age category to be the best schools’ province in the country which will also see athletes garner and copper fasten coveted spots on the Irish Schools’ international track and field team.

Stars from the GloHealth All Ireland Schools Track and Field Championships in Tullamore earlier this month include Ulster’s Aron Sexton (Bangor GS) and Leinster’s Patience Jumbo Gula (St Vincent’s Dundalk) in the their respective 100m and 200m races.

Ellie McCartney (Belfast H.S.) has been setting new standards in the pole vault and is sure to show her class once more if the weather is in her favour.

Megan Lenihan (Hazelwood College Dromcollogher) bettered Marita Walton’s 41-year-old junior junior girls' discus record of 38.28m with a stunning 39.56m at the Irish Schools and she will be looking to use her expertise of centrifugal force to the max in Morton Stadium.
