As the count down begins towards the start of the European Cup in Finland we can reveal the final team that will spearhead Ireland's challenge to remain in Division One. A few injuries sustained over the past week has led to a few withdrawals from the original lineup but the late inclusion of National Record Holder Roisin McGettigan in the women's steeplechase is a welcome boost to the women's challenge of staying in this high high-level division. The latest analysis of the statistics indicate that Ireland will do very well if they remain in this division, such is the standard of athletes competing. Derval O'Rourke will face stiff competition from European champion Suzanna Kallur while David Gillick will face strong opposition from the Swede Johan Wissman. Patsy McGonagle, team manager, had the following to say when he was asked to review Ireland's challenge: "Its that time of year again an indication that the season has really begun to kick in . Once again as is the norm with this competition people come to the line having different aspirations for the season but on this one occasion its a Team objective and all elements of the squad have to lift themselves and their teamates over 2 days towards the overall goal Sunday evening . I have no doubt that there will be an excellent response during the period and the challenge to remain in league 1 . Thats the desired outcome so lets now chase it . " We wish everyone the best of luck and you can track their progress at the following address: http://www.ec2007vaasa.fi/ Competing Men's teams: Switzerland Netherlands Sweden Finland Spain Czech Republic Slovakia Ireland Competing Women's teams: Norway Czech Republic Slovakia Ireland Finland Sweden Great Britain and Northern Ireland Netherlands Men’s Team 100/200 Paul Hession 400 David Gillick 800 David McCarthy 1500 Dave Campbell 3000SC Mark Kirwan 3000 James Nolan 5000 Martin Fagan 110H Ian McDonald 400H Jonathon Miller Long Jump Steve Fleming Triple Jump Jonathon Ritchie High Jump Christopher Crowley Shot Sean Breathnach Discus Eoin Leen Hammer Padraig White Javelin Aaron Crawford Pole Vault Anthony McCreery 4x100 Relay Jason Smyth Jer O'Donoghue Gordon Kennedy Darragh Graham Paul McKee Paul Hession 4x400 Relay Paul McKee Gordon Kennedy David McCarthy Brian Murphy David Gillick Women’s Team Event Name 100 Ailis McSweeney 200 Ciara Sheehy 400 Joanne Cuddihy 800 Rose-Anne Galligan 1500 Kelly Reid 3000SC Roisin McGettigan 3000 Orla Drumm 5000 Fionnula Britton 100H Derval O'Rourke 400H Michelle Carey Long Jump Leona Byrne Triple Jump Aoife Hoey High Jump Deirdre Ryan Shot Laura Cogan Discus Deirdre Murphy Hammer Eileen O'Keefe Javelin Laura Kerr Pole Vault Claire Wilkinson 4x100 Relay Boyle, O'Rourke, Cuddihy, Sheehy Ailis McSweeney Emily Maher 4x400 Relay Cuddihy, Sheehy, Carey, Maher Elaine McCaffrey Medical Staff Bill Cuddihy Neasa Smyth Ciaran Fitzpatrick Paul O'Neill Team Manager Patsy McGonagle Coaches Stephen Maguire Sean Kyle Maeve Kyle Pat Diskin Paddy Fay Hayley Harrison Max Jones
