Twelve of the top junior teams in Europe entered the Complejo Deportivo Gaetà Huguet stadium on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th to compete in the European DNA ‘Clash of the Clubs’ competition
Ratoath AC's Junior team were top club at the National Junior Championships earlier this year and qualified to go forward to represent Ireland at the U20 event.
The innovative variant of the sport created by European Athletics – takes place over two-and-a-half hour matches involving six teams at a time.
Ratoath’s athletes and coaches showed that they could compete with the best in Europe, eventually finishing in 9th position out of the 12 teams. The result included some fantastic results across the action-packed schedule.

There were some super performances across the weekend including PB’s and a few club records broken by; Stephen Kiernan 400m hurdles 60.60s, Emanuel Osas 110m Hurdles 16.22s, Mixed Relay 4x4 3.36.78 (Kyle, Aisling, Darragh, Niamh), Hunt Relay 5.09.63 (Laura, Kyle, Eve, Jed).
All athletes embraced both the DNA format and the friendly atmosphere among all the teams competing at the track and at the team hotel where good friendships were made.
