After a late summer of outstanding athletics, we prepare for 2022 with the announcement of the regional squads and dates for 2021/2022 with key criteria being top 3 in Regional Juvenile Championships
The regional squads provide support and expertise to our emerging young athletes to help them to fulfil their potential along with any coaches who wish to attend.
- The regions are split into Connaught, Munster, Dublin & Leinster & Ulster
- The squad sessions complement the work which is carried out by clubs and personal coaches.
- Our Regional Squads help promising young athletes by providing them with educational and motivational training days, including the opportunity to listen to guest speakers.
- Apart from providing specialist coaching and training opportunities, these squad sessions give young athletes a chance to meet their peers in a social and non-completive environment.
The Regional Squads are co-ordinated by the Regional Development Officers with the assistance of high quality coaches and personal coaches who will work towards best practices. Personal coaches are encouraged to be involved on the day.

- Day 4 February 25th AIT Athlone (possible overnight camp)

Details for the 2021/2022 Munster Development and Academy Squads are as follows:
Squad times: Development:11am – 1pm. Academy: 1.30pm - 3.30pm
- Saturday 25th September in Templemore Track

- Saturday 13th November in Templemore Track
- Saturday 4th December in Templemore Track

- Academy Squad: For athletes who achieved Top 3 in Provincial Championships.
- Development Squad: For athletes U12 to U15
The links are now available for athletes to register for both the Performance Squad and the Development Squad. The Performance Squad is for the list of selected athletes from u16 to u19 (2022 age groups) and is based on results achieved at the 2021 Connacht Provincial Championships and 2021 All Ireland Championships. The Development Squad is for Connacht athletes from u12 to u15 (2022 age groups).
