Over the last two weekends, almost 400 athletes between the age of 14 and 18 participated in the Athletics Ireland Regional Squad sessions in Connacht, Ulster, Munster, Leinster and Dublin. 
The weather was cold but dry in all regions allowing a wide range of events to be catered for at each of the Squad sessions. Coaching was provided by specialist coaches in each event and both the invited athletes and their coaches expressed great satisfaction at the weekend’s activities. The guest speaker in Connacht was Paul Hession who gave great inspiration to the young athletes in attendance. For those athletes who had attended regularly at the Regional Squad Sessions since they began again last year, there was an extra bonus at the weekend. These athletes all received a specially designed t-shirt and spike bag, met with great approval in all venues. 
The next Regional Squad Sessions are in Connacht on March 2nd and in all other regions on March 29th 2008.
