The Irish women’s national 4 x 100m relay team take part in the Glasgow Grand Prix Diamond League event in Hampden Park this evening a 20.18. This is a great opportunity for the team to solidify their qualification in to the European Track and Field Championships in Zurich this August. Currently ranked 13th in Europe, the team needs to stay in the top 16 relay teams in Europe to guarantee qualification.

Junior & U23s

Two members of the squad, Catherine MacManus and Phil Healy, showed fine form last week in the GloHealth Junior and U23 Championships. MacManus came away with the U23 100mH title and silver in the 100m. Healy showed her dominance within the age group winning both the 100m and 200m.

The team also includes junior 100mH record holder Sarah Lavin (UCD AC) and Niamh Whelan (Ferrybank AC).

Glasgow

Traditionally the Diamond League event is held in London but a change of scenery to Glasgow has attracted some of the world’s most exciting athletes. Already confirmed are Mo Farah (GB), Christine Ohuruogu (GB), Greg Rutherford (GB), Yohan Blake (JAM), Adam Gemili (GB), Richard Kilty (GB), Jessica Judd (GB) and Kim Collins (Saint Kitts and Nevis). Plus, don't miss Olympic 110m hurdles champion and world record holder Aries Merritt (USA) go head-to-head with World Championships finalist William Sharman (GB).
