Dublin Grand Prix - Munster championships - UL Meet Colin Griffin kept Irish eyes smiling with a clear win in the 20k event at the 16th Dublin Grand Prix of Race Walking today. Held in the Phoenix Park, Griffin had over three minutes to spare over Daniel King from England to win his first national 20k title. Italian Alec Schwazer was an equally impressive winner of the 50k event with over six minutes to spare over Herve Davaux from France, while another Italian, Gisella Orsini recorded a good win in the 20k event. Results Several athletes warmed up for the European Cup next weekend at the Munster championships at Cork CIT today. Deirdre Murphy, a late addition to the Irish team, won both shot and discus, bettering her season’s best in both – 11.21m in the shot and 39.44m in the discus. Eoin Leen won the discus with a best of 48.82m, and Rachel Akers won the women’s hammer with 52.58m. Ailis McSweeney is inching her way back to form with a win in the100m, while Jer O’Donoghue won the men’s 100m, his third sprint in two days after clocking 10.76 in UL on Saturday.
