Wicklow Way Relay - Donegal Athletics Challenge finals
The annual Wicklow Way relay is on Saturday 9th June. The race is organised by the Irish Mountain Running Association. There are 26 teams entered including two Rathfarnham, two Clonliffe, Sli Cualann and Dunboyne teams. Teams can be composed of 2 to 8 runners, and the race is divided into 8 relay legs. Teams of eight have to include two veterans and two women in their team. The race starts at 07:00 at the bottom of Kilmashogue Lane, and finishes 104 km and around 8 hours later in Shillelagh outside a pub! For more details, see http://www.imra.ie/?sec1=racedetail&id=419
Donegal Athletics Challenge finals . The 36th annual athletics challenge enjoyed brillant sunshine being held at Finn Valley ac ters approx . Some 900 youngsters from 62 schools were represented and indeed more encouraging 41 of these schools medalled . Competition was keen and once again some 40 officials from the local Valley club did an excellent job . This is an excellent event and with preliminary heats having been held in various areas through May its felt that the programme engaged 4000 youngsters.Outstanding students were Rebecca Ward , Donoughmore; Aisling Cunningham ,Commons; Sarah Martin ,Lifford; Chantel o Loughlin ,Dromore; Roisin Ni Chuirrean ,Scoil Ni Fionan; Conor Doherty, Kilcar ;Amber Barrett, Rathmullan ;Lisa Gibson ,St. Eunans,Raphoe; Ruairi Finnegan , Gael Scoil, Leitir Ceanainn; Best schools Large (200+) 1.
