Raheny Shamrock Athletic Club will host this weekend’s 123.ie National Road Relay Championships 2026, taking place on Wade’s Avenue, Raheny, with the first race underway at 1:30pm on Sunday, April 26.
Specialists of the road will be joined by a host of leading track athletes as clubs from across the country compete for national team honours on the now familiar looped course.
The senior men’s race promises another thrilling contest following last year’s dramatic edition, which saw Ennis Track Club claim victory. Craughwell Athletic Club, runners-up in 2025, return with another strong squad, while Clonliffe Harriers – third last year – will again be in contention, led by recent national 10km champion Ian Guiden. Strong challenges are also expected from North Down AC, Dundrum South Dublin AC, and Donore Harriers.
The senior women’s race looks equally competitive, with Dundrum South Dublin AC aiming to extend their winning streak. Key contributors to last year’s success included Maria McCambridge, Emma McEvoy, and Eimear Maher. This year’s line-up is once again formidable, featuring Amy O’Donoghue, Holly Carroll, and the returning McEvoy.
Likely challengers include Dublin City Harriers and CNDR Track, while UCD AC could also feature prominently in the medal positions.
The day’s programme begins at 1:30pm with the Masters women’s race. Longford AC will look to defend their O35 title, while the host club will aim to halt the dominance of Ennis Track Club.
The Masters men’s events are expected to be closely contested, particularly in the O50 category, where several evenly matched teams are set to compete.
