RELAY HERO O’DONNELL QUALIFIES FOR 400M SEMI-FINAL
Relay hero Christopher O’Donnell has secured his passage to tomorrow evening’s 400m semi-final with a brilliant 4th place finish in this morning’s heats, just fourteen hours on from helping Ireland claim a historic relay gold medal last night.
Racing in the first of the 400m heats, the North Sligo AC athlete crossed in a time of 45.69SB which will see him return to the track once again tomorrow evening (7.38pm).
Before that however, O’Donnell will join his relay teammates Rhasidat Adeleke, Thomas Barr, and Sharlene Mawdsley on the top of the podium at the Medal Plaza in Rome where they will collect their European gold medals (June 8th 4.35pm Irish time).

LIGHTENING LAVIN SET TO HEADLINE DAY 2 (SATURDAY JUNE 8TH):
Fans will have to wait until this evening’s session to see the second Irish involvement of the day with Oisin Lane set to go in the 20km Race Walk from 5pm. Conditions are set to be still in the high twenties, but the young Mullingar Harriers athletes is sure to gain plenty of valuable experience on his senior European Championship debut.
Sarah Lavin will go in search of her second major championship final of the year when she takes to the semi-final of the 100m hurdles from 7.12pm. Lavin automatically advanced to the semi-final as one of the top 12 ranked athletes and is sure to have eyes set on the evening’s medal decider (9.08pm).
Israel Olatunde will return for the semi-final of the 100m at 8.10pm, with the experience of Munich 2022 sure to stand to the Irish record holder.
Brian Fay will in final action when he takes to a stacked 5000m at 21.28pm.
