Peter Samba (Dunboyne AC) was first home in the Irish Runner 5K at a sunswept Phoenix Park on Saturday May 4th. Samba who was not entered in the National Championships ran a PB to finish in 00:14:36.
Ciaran Kelly (Raheny Shamrock A.C.) finished close in second in a time of 00:14:45 and in doing so secured the National 5K titles ahead of Conor Duffy (Glaslough Harriers A.C.) and Peter Arthur (Liffey Valley A.C.).
North Belfast Harriers Men took the team honours with a strongly packed team taking gold just ahead of Raheny Shamrock A.C. and Liffey Valley A.C.
In the women’s race, the evergreen Catherina McKiernan (Ananalee A.C.) ran a superb 00:17:15 to take the gold ahead of Mary Mulhare (Portlaoise A.C.) and Bronagh Kearns (St. Senans A.C.).
Dunboyne A.C. will also in medalled with their Senior Womens Team taking Gold ahead of Raheny Shamrock A.C. and Dundrum South Dublin A.C.
