The second series of the Sligo fit4life League attracted over 60 walkers, joggers and some that are in the competitive athletics category to Sligo I.T. last night [Thursday 24th Jan]. A superb handicap system, where the walkers, joggers, and runners start at different intervals ensures that the complete field finishes within a five minutes time frame. All are timed and points awarded towards an overall series total. The buzz and positive supportive atmosphere evident is proof, if proof was needed, of the social, health and increased club membership benefits of the fit4life programme. Local organisers Terry Hayes, 0872274622 and Anne McHugh, 0872355103 will warmly welcome new members to the next round where the emphasis is on participation and recreation. The next round of the Sligo League takes place on Sat 2nd Feb at 12 Noon in Hazelwood Forest –Distance 2 miles. The event had a fantastic turnout and was an outstanding success from every perspective. Congrats to Tony Nevin for a superb effort in putting the day together, and all involved in the Fit4Life programme in the three clubs who have done remarkable work in recent months.
