The Irish Institute of Sport is offering an extra incentive to Ireland's elite milers who are running in the Spar Mile Challenge organised by Athletics Ireland this weekend. Any Irish athlete who runs a sub 4 minute mile will receive a €1000 bonus. This is an attractive incentive as there are a group of very talented Irish milers at present. There will be at least two elite mile races as part of the events. Mark Carroll and Liam Reale will attempt to break the magical 4 minute barrier in the Mardyke in Cork on Friday 6 July and throw down the guantlet to those running in the Morton Mile in Santry Stadium on Sat 7 July. Seasoned miler James Nolan will head the Santry race where he hopes to lead a number of young milers under 4 minutes, including Mark Christie, Martin Fagan and Colm Rooney . The Morton Mile will take place at 2pm. Full Details by clicking on Logo SPAR LOGO
