Daniel Kilgallon has been appointed as Athletics Ireland’s National Sprints Coordinator (See role description here).
Daniel is a native of Ballina, Co. Mayo, and worked as Youth Sport Officer with Dublin and Dún Laoghaire Education and Training Board for 7 years prior to joining Athletics Ireland as a Development Officer in 2015. He has been responsible for, amongst other things, coordination and delivery of coach education in the northeast, the design and implementation of Fit4Class (Athletics Ireland’s primary school athletics programme) and the creation of AAi Coach (Athletics Ireland interactive coaching resource). He has served as National U20 Men’s 4x100m Relay Coach since 2014, and has also served as Senior Men’s 4x100m relay coach in 2018. In this time Daniel has guided the Irish men to 7th place at the 2015 European u20 championships, a National Record at the 2016 World u20 championships and the Irish youth women to a bronze medal at the 2017 European Youth Olympic Festival. Daniel also serves as a volunteer coach with Tallaght AC where he has had significant success in recent years in the sprint events. Daniel will commence in the new role in July 2018 and will be responsible for driving the development of the sprints event group in Ireland.
