The week 2nd to the 6th July 2007 will be remembered by 120 young athletics enthusiasts and twenty adult coaches/teachers/leaders with many positive memories. The 3rd St John Bosco athletics club camp, received many compliments from the participants, parents and coaching/teaching and support staff. Camp Leader, Michelle Harvey, indicated ‘We were fortunate to have coaching/teaching expertise and equipment to offer a wide variety of athletic activities. To have staff with a professional background in such areas as art, dance, athletics, gymnastics, trampoleening, orienteering, and arts and crafts allowed us offer a fun filled, varied and challenging programme. The recently received fun in athletics Leader Equipment was also a big help. I would like to thank all the staff for their input and the children who were so enthusiastic and fun to work with during the week’ Comments from the participants when asked to talk about the highlights of the camp included -- ‘ the art and the dancing was great’ –‘I enjoyed the jumping and throwing games the most’ -- ‘I’m very tired’ – ‘did you see me climb the rope’ – ‘Billy on the boat trip was funny, he compared the big seal to one of the coaches’ – ‘ can we come back next week’ –‘I ’ – ‘I made two new friends’—‘the camp was far too short’ –‘it was not all about sport’ – ‘it was great to try new events’ –‘it was good fun’-‘I think I will join the athletics club in September’ Club Chairman, Eamon Harvey, at the conclusion of the camp congratulated the participants for their enthusiasm and invited all to join the athletics club when the new season starts again in September.
