A very successful Jumps Workshop involving over 70 coaches and athletes was held in Clones on Sunday September 30th. The four jumps disciplines were covered in a comprehensive coach education event and this was well received by the attendees.
The high jump group were led by Fuzz Caan who returned to build on his previous workshop in Dublin. Fuzz is a world-renowned coach who coached Olympic medalist Robbie Grabarz and had previously assisted Brendan Reilly to an Irish record. Fuzz took the coaches through a detailed session with a strong focus on correct execution. It is hoped to have another session with Fuzz in the near future.
Pat Power, the Jumps Event coordinator and horizontal jumps coach David Murphy put a large group of athletes through their paces. This group was targeting long and triple jumps. The emphasis was on seasonally appropriate training with drills and easy plyometrics featuring.
The pole vault initiative continued with Seamus Flynn taking the session. He led the group through introductory steps and this resulted in strong progress. Seamus felt that there is a lot of potential within the group and it is hoped that this can be developed further.
Thanks to all those that attended.
