Athletics Ireland is delighted to announce the launch our new Sustainability Policy and our commitment to limiting Climate change. Our policy addresses the ongoing challenges that we all face to meet the goals of the Paris Climate Change agreement and global warming.
Our policy supports the United Nations Sports for Climate Change five principles and the 17 Sustainable Development goals. We are committed to reducing our climate footprint at all our events and through our daily activity. As a sporting body we want to play our part and display climate leadership as one of the first NGB in Ireland to set a sustainability policy.
We have already taken these simple steps to reduce our carbon emissions:
- Paperless office
- Tetra pack water at our events
- E-tickets for our events and online entry systems
- LED office lighting
- All communication with stakeholders is now online
We encourage all our members and clubs to be more climate aware and join us in creating a more sustainable future.
