A team of 32 Irish athletes will take their place among the 44 countries set to compete at the 2023 European Athletics U20 Championships which are being hosted in Jerusalem, Israel, from the 7th to 10th August 2023.  The team includes 18 individual competitors along with relay squads in the men's 4x100m, men's 4x400m, and women's 4x400m.

Nick Griggs, reigning European U20 Champion over 3000m, will lead the Irish challenge with the Candour Track Club athlete holding entries in both the 1500m and 3000m. Griggs heads into these championships ranked second in the 1500m behind Niels Laros (NED) on his season’s best, while his 7:53.24 from earlier this season ranks him number one in the 3,000m where he could also face off against the Dutch athlete.

Elizabeth Ndudi goes into the championships as Ireland's top ranked female athlete having recently bettered her own U20 Long Jump record with a 6.44m leap in Mannheim. The Dundrum South Dublin athlete followed up that impressive performance with a gold medal winning display at the National Senior Track and Field Championships in Morton Stadium last weekend.

Leading out Team Ireland on day 1 will be Ava Rochford of Nenagh Olympic who will have eyes on making Wednesday’s long jump final. Rochford will head into Monday's qualifying round buoyed by a string of consistent performances which included a personal best of 1.80m back in May.

All the action from Jerusalem will be streamed live on All Athletics TV in partnership with RTE. Updates will be available across all of Athletics Ireland’s social media channels throughout the day.
