Throwers spring into action in Athlone

The Athletics Ireland Spring Throws in Athlone rounded out a busy weekend in the midlands with some of Ireland’s leading throwers.

The Endurance Coaching Network and the Irish Life Health National Juvenile Indoors day 3 took place in AIT the day previously. And now it was the turn of the throwers where Adam King (Iveragh) and Michaela Walsh (Swinford) starred.

King recorded a personal best of 62.15m in the hammer while Walsh won the women's equivalent with a best of 54.46m.

Multiple national champion Clare Fitzgerald (Tralee Harriers) won the women’s discus with a best of 50.17m. Grace Casey (Eire Og Corra Choill A.C.) won the women’s javelin with 43.94m while Eoghan Flynn (Waterford) won the men’s javelin in a personal best of 61.57m.

There were a number of juvenile athletes also backing up for an active weekend of competition. For full results click HERE
