World Race Walking Team Selection

Three of Ireland’s leading race walkers have been selected to take part in the IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships that take place in Taicang, China on the 5th and 6th of May.

Brendan Boyce (Finn Valley) will compete in the 50km race walk while Alex Wright (Leevale) and Cian McManamon (Westport) will contest the 20km event.

High Performance Director Paul McNamara said:

“This is the second most important fixture on the walks calendar and will be a benchmark against world class competition ahead of the Europeans in Berlin in August. The competition is very deep with the leading nations able to select five athletes. It will be a good test for our trio.”
