UCD's womens team were in flying form at the National Intervarsity Road Relays in Maynooth last Saturday taking the win for the third year on the trot over second placed UL, with DCU in third.

Olympic hopefuls Ciara Everard and Ciara Mageean, as well as Ellie Hartnett were also members of the 2014 team that took victory in a new intervarsity record. This year they were accompanied by 1st year student Alannah Lally. The team had a combined time of 33:51 in the 1-2-2-1 mile format. The loop was altered this year for safety reasons which made the distances longer as a result.

UL women had a combined time of 35:05 with Michelle impressing with a time of 10:48 - two seconds faster than Mageean's split of 10:50. Both are expected to toe the line at the GloHealth Inter Club Cross Country Championships this Sunday in Santry Demesne. DCU were third with a time of 35:21.

This year's competition saw a huge turnout from 3rd level colleges all over the country despite the terrible conditions. The spoils were shared amongst the same three teams in the mens race. DCU took victory, with UL in second and UCD third.

The DCU men's team comprising Cillian Kirwan, Kevin Kelly, Keith Fallon, Pierre Murchan and Cormac Kelly combined in the 1-2-3-2-1 mile format to to triumph in a time of 44:56. UL were second in in 45:25 with UCD third in 45:38.
