Athletics Ireland has confirmed the selection of eleven individual athletes, the Mixed 4x400m Relay Team and the Women's 4x100m Relay Team for the upcoming World Athletics Championships to be held in Eugene, Oregon from the 15th to the 24th July. This web post was updated to confirm the selection of the Women's 4x100m Relay Team on the 1st of July.

As per published policy, athletes were eligible for selection by having either attained an ‘A’ standard or by having attained a ‘B’ standard and be ranked within quota on the World Rankings in their event.  Athletes selected in any individual event or relay were also eligible for selection in any other event in which they were ranked within quota on the World Rankings, regardless of having attained a ‘B’ standard.  

In a busy season for our performance athletes, several have planned their year around the European Championships and have opted to forego the World Championships in this instance, including Ciara Mageean, Fionnuala McCormack and Phil Healy.
