Despite the swirling winds and incessant rain a number of excellent early-season performances were achieved at the AAI Games in the Irishtown Stadium, Dublin on Sunday 21st May. Confirming the good form shown recently in Italy where she ran a new personal best for the 400 metres ( 52.76 ) Joanne Cuddihy had a superb double in the 100 metres ( 11.67 W ) and 200 metres in 23.76 ( +1.5 ) moving her to 7th in the Irish all-time list. Rob Daly made a welcome comeback to competition with a fine win in the 200 metres in 21.54 which augurs well for his prospects later in the season over 400 metres.. In the field events Mary McLoone had a double in the long jump ( 5.91 metres ) and the triple jump with 12.40 metres ( +1.8 ) . The latter performance could well be enough for selection to the European Cup team. In the shot Laura Cogan with 12.98 metres continues to impress while in the javelin Jennifer O'Sullivan had a narrow win over Laura Kerr. AAI Games Results 2006 (PDF)
